(COLORADO SPRINGS, CO) — The first public poll of the 2026 Republican Primary for Colorado Governor is out, and the results speak for themselves: Victor Marx is the clear frontrunner, and it's not even close.
A statewide poll conducted May 7–8 by Cygnal Research & Polling shows Marx pulling 42% on the initial ballot, more than triple his nearest competitor. Once voters heard what the candidates actually stand for, his support jumped to 59% and the undecided pool cut in half. Every other candidate in the race combined still can't match him.
“This is confirmation, not news. Our internal numbers have shown Victor at the top of this race from the start, and Cygnal’s independent poll lines-up almost exactly,” said Marx campaign manager Buddy Jericho. “The data is consistent, the momentum is real, and Victor Marx is clearly the candidate to beat.”
Marx leads every candidate in name recognition and favorability, 45% favorable, only 13% unfavorable, a net +32 rating. His closest competitor, Kirkmeyer, sits at a distant net +8, with nearly half of Republican primary voters saying they've never even heard of her. Bottoms is in even rougher shape, 53% of voters have no idea who he is.
Among core Republicans, the gap is staggering, Marx leads Kirkmeyer 53% to 9%. When voters learn what Victor stands for, they choose him. Every time.
The timing couldn't be better for an outsider campaign. A full 76% of likely Republican primary voters say Colorado is headed in the wrong direction, and 75% want major change in state leadership. Voters aren't looking for another career politician. They want someone ready to shake things up. Their top concerns are taxes and spending 21%, cost of living 18%, and illegal immigration 16%. Those are Victor Marx's issues, and his platform tackles every one of them head-on.
"Eighty-six percent of Coloradans know this state is broken and they're right. I'm not a career politician. I'm someone who's fed up, just like you,” said Marx. “I got into this race to fight runaway spending, protect our borders, defend our water, and make Colorado affordable again. The people are ready. The politicians in Denver had their chance and made things worse. Now it's our turn."
With unaffiliated voters making up 35% of the primary electorate, Marx's lead among UAFs also gives him a real head start for November. Add in record fundraising, thousands of volunteers across the state, and grassroots energy that none of his opponents can match and this campaign is in a class of its own.
The math is simple: a net +32 favorability, 59% post-message support, and a movement that keeps growing. Victor Marx is built to win. Learn more about Victor Marx and his campaign at Victor2026.com.
